The creation process of “Argument …”  started in June 2018, when Coletivo Labirinto went  to Montevideo in order to meet Santiago Sanguinetti and get immersed in his dramaturgy. Back in Brazil, Coletivo Labirinto advanced in the creation process of the play (rehearsals and simultaneous plot translation and adaptation).  This whole process took place during a peculiar political context faced in Brazil in that period . In November 2018,  the production was granted funding by the Cleyde Yáconis Trust / Municipal Culture Department of São Paulo. The play made its debut in January 2019 at Centro Cultural  São Paulo, and held other seasons in the city in the same year and in 2020, until the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The debate triggered by “Argument…” is straightforward and broad at the same time:  What notion of revolution is still present within us Latin Americans? Where are our references and how corrupt are they in our subconsciousness? Are there actually still any thoughts in this regard? Does it still converse with the mindset that drove the youth against military dictatorships in Latin America in the 70’s? Yet, do we really perceive ourselves as part of the Latin America?
