ABOUT US

Founded in 2013, Coletivo Labirinto is a theater company made up of artists who are involved not only in acting and performing, but also in directing and producing aimed at exploring the relationship between the individuals with their social context, through contemporary Latin-American dramaturgy.

In 2014, Coletivo Labirinto made its debut with the first season of SEM_TÍTULO (UNTITLED), written by the Argentine Ariel Farace and performed for the first time in Brazil. The play had two other seasons at Espaço Elevador, in São Paulo.

With the removal from office of President Dilma Rousseff, the group enhanced its studies on the relationship between aesthetic and political processes and staged, in partnership with the theater group Quase9, the performance “The Case: full reading to understand the impeachment” (FUNARTE/2016) and also the experimental performance  Mission F. (2017).

In 2018, The group held another season of SEM_TÍTULO (UNTITLED),  in partnership with the federal program “Eu Faço Cultura”, at the Multicultural Center - Contêiner Mungunzá Theater in São Paulo.

In the same year, Coletivo Labirinto promoted the artistic urban intervention project 8 AÇÕES DESORGANIZADORAS - O AFETO COMO GESTO POLÍTICO (08 DISRUPTIVE ACTIONS - AFFECTION AS A POLITICAL GESTURE), performed at bus stations throughout the city of São Paulo. This project was  supported by the São Paulo state government cultural program - Proac Artes Integradas.

Still in 2018, The group travelled to Uruguay to meet the playwright Santiago Sanguinetti and start the research and creation process of “Argumento Contra a Existência de Vida Inteligente no Cone Sul (Argument Against the Existence of Intelligent Life in South America), getting immersed in Sanguinetti’s dramaturgy as well as in the way he interacts with the production of local artists. In November 2018, the production of  “Argument..” was able to begin after the project was granted funding by the Cleyde Yáconis Trust - Municipal Culture Department of São Paulo. The play made its debut in January 2019 at Centro Cultural São Paulo, where it was in season for two months, with free performances. During this season, the audience was provided with the translated and adapted version of the script. The second season took place between May and June, also in 2019, at  Contêiner Mungunzá theater.

Argument Against The Existence of Intelligent Life in South America took part in the first edition of the event Brasil Cena Aberta in June 2019. The play was chosen to perform at the week’s pitching show. In January 2020, the show was staged at Cacilda Becker Theater; as one of the attractions of the event Mostra Verão Sem Censura, organized by the Municipal Culture Department of São Paulo.

Coletivo Labirinto is currently developing  the project “HISTÓRIAS DE NOSSA AMÉRICA”, with a grant provided by  the 35th Edition of the Funding Stream to theater companies from the city of São Paulo.
