MISSION F.

MISSION F. is an experimental performance carried out by the actresses Carol Vidotti and Emilene Guitierrez in 2017. The experiment was sparked by the paper “Performative program: the body-on-experience” written by the performer and theorist Eleonora Fabião (2013). The experimental performance proposes to raise a social question, which is experienced by the actresses, in order to conflict the relations of aesthetic-political belonging of certain female portrayals around the city.

The actresses, who are wearing a skirt, shirt, and high-heels -  a typical outfit seen in a  city like  São Paulo, individually follow a predetermined path until they meet and become each other’s companions. The experiment uses the idea from the Performative Program by Eleona Fabião as a trigger where actions that are denominated and performed without any rehearsals, get rubbed  between the body and the city; allowing an opening of small poetic zones which set off  issues related to the order of presence and strangeness of oneself.

At that time, MISSION F. was made up and took place at Paulista Avenue, around lunchtime, when the sidewalks were busy with workers and executives, who encountered the performance curious by the similarities and disparities shown in its gesture.

I conclude by returning to the title of this text. Pope. L said in an interview: "If I

had to give another name to what I do, if I didn't call it performance, I would call it

practice". A "practice". A practice of creating a body that can only  exist in

direct confrontation with the world; and yet, a world-creating practice that can only be

born from direct confrontation with the body. A "sharp" and humorous practice that

shakes up  the separation between art and non-art. It throws the artist's body in the urgency

of the world and the urgency of the world into  the framework of artistic attention.
